10/26/21 - This is a very nice example of a Lanchester Mk 1* submachine gun issued to the British military between 1940-1942. This particular gun has a solid cast dummy receiver. It is a non-working, non-firing gun. The magazine does come in and out, the trigger moves, the rear sight moves, and the takedown lever is operable. Those are the only moving parts. The Lanchester is a submachine gun (SMG) manufactured by the Sterling Armaments Company between 1941 and 1945. It is a copy of the German MP28/II and was manufactured in two versions, Mk.1 and Mk.1*; the latter was a simplified version of the original Mk.1, with no fire selector and simplified sights. It was primarily used by the British Royal Navy during the Second World War, and to a lesser extent by the Royal Air Force Regiment (for airfield protection). It was given the general designation of Lanchester after George Herbert Lanchester, who was charged with producing the weapon at the Sterling Armaments Company. This one is in very nice condition. There is chipping in the black paint on the heat shield and on the top of the receiver. The brass parts have some discoloration from age. The stock is nice with minor dings, dents, and bruises. Comes with one period-correct magazine.
