9/13/23 - This is an excellent example of a Colt Model 1883 Hammerless 12 Ga Shotgun, manufactured in 1887 and featuring a 30" barrel. This shotgun is entirely matching, on the trigger guard, barrel, receiver, and the recessed area within the receiver that locks the barrel down. The shotgun is in superb condition for its age, practically a work of art with gorgeous Damascus patterns still crisp along the barrels. The receiver features additional engravings and has patent dates etched on the bottom. The top of the barrel is marked “Colt’s PT. F. A. MFG CO, Hartford, CT USA.” The metal has retained most of its original finish, with some age-related patina present in some areas, and some minor signs of oxidation throughout. The bore is shiny, but there is minor pitting. The wood furniture is in fantastic shape, with no major damage or signs of repair, just some minor handling marks here and there. Antique, so no licensing required.
