9/4/24 - This is a great example of an inert 1.65 Inch Hotchkiss cannister shot round made by Winchester. These rounds were used most often in the M1875 Mountain Gun. These guns were famous for their use during the Spanish-American War in Cuba, and for their use by the U.S. Cavalry at Wounded Knee. The brass shell on this round is in great shape with no major dents. The cannister shot capsule is still sealed, and can be removed from the brass. The brass is case stamped " Winchester R A. Co. New Haven CT. U.S.A. ". The brass casing is also stamped with the ordinance crossed cannons, of which only half is still visible.
