6/5/23 - This is an original WW2 production Type 98 Army Officer's sword. The sword is a great example with a clean blade that shows some light signs of surface buffing / cleaning throughout. This is very light surface wear, and there are a few areas of dark oxidation as well, but these are minimal. The tempered edge is visible and wavy. There's some evidence of graining still visible on the blade, which indicates this example was handmade in the traditional style. The tang shows a signature on one side, with no other markings. The signature is named for sword smith Nagamitsu. The tsuba fittings are in good condition with typical surface patina, and all numbered parts are matching, as shown. The handle has no major issues and typical handling wear. Comes with an original scabbard in great condition, but the base / toe of the scabbard is missing the stylized metal fittings.
