3/15/23 - This is an original Colt 1877 Lightning revolver from 1909. The Model 1877 was Colt's first attempt at a double action revolver and is chambered for the .38 Long Colt cartridge. It has an outward appearance similar to that of the famous Single Action Army with a solid frame and loading gate. This revolver wears a 4-1/2" barrel with ejector rod. This one has a very late serial number and is right at the end of production for these guns. The last serial number is 166849 - this one is 166031! It is all matching and has lost the majority of its original finish. Only a few small spots of the original case hardening on the frame are still visible. Noticeable wear throughout. Slightly worn grips. Minty bore. It seems to only work reliably in double action. The hammer only locks back sometimes.
